Admission of Third Order members and the Consecration to Mary at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Hong Kong
On 25th of March, 2019 at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish where we serve in Hong Kong, we celebrated the Solemnity of the Annunciation, as well as the 35th anniversary of the foundation of our dear Religious Family of the Incarnate Word. Eleven lay people were admitted to our Third Order during the Mass: among them were some of our parishioners and parents of one of our sisters. Each new member received a small cross of Matara as a sign of their affiliation.
In addition, there were more than forty of our faithful made the total consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary according to the method of St. Louis Grignion of Montfort.
Living in a metropolitan city like Hong Kong, most people lived a hectic and materialistic lifestyle. People put efforts on study and work, but many neglect the right orientation and purpose of their lives. After putting forth greater efforts in the past months to deepen the understanding of our faithful to the total consecration to Mary, with talks and short films, many showed their willingness to accept Mary as the Queen of their lives. They committed to do the 33 days of preparation and finally consecrated themselves during the Mass of the Annunciation. The preparation was a big sacrifice for them and it really challenged their perseverance. What was the most encouraging was that there were also children who did the consecration to Mary. They read the formula of consecration during the Mass, and each one offered a rose to Our Lady as an exterior sign.
After the celebration, Fr. Gervais Baudry, IVE, congratulated our eleven new Third Order members, and reminded them to reflect on Christ in their daily lives. This is the mission of each Christians, but especially to the members of our Religious Family of the Incarnate Word. We should strive for this so that the Word might be incarnated in each one of us. Fr. Gervais also congratulated those who consecrated themselves to Mary. He said, “If we want to make Our Lady happy, we need to do the will of God and to conform ourselves with Christ. This is the wish of Mary, and it is also what she desires to see in us”
