In the evening of 23 December, our youth in Hong Kong SS. Peter and Paul Parish held a Joint School Christmas Party. Students from 3 Catholic Secondary Schools nearby were invited. Most of the participants were the members of the Catholic Society of the schools. From the parish, we had youth from University, working youth and missionaries in Hong Kong. Altogether there were around 20 participants.
The annual Hong Kong Diocese "Walk for Vocations" campaign was held on 26 December this year. Together with 40 faithful from Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, the IVE priests and sisters set out from the Cathedral. After 3.5 hours, they arrived at the Holy Spirit Seminary, where they participated in the Eucharistic Adoration and Mass, with the intention to pray for vocations.
As we know, in a specific and radical way, cloistered contemplatives conform to Christ Jesus in prayer on the mountain and to his Paschal Mystery, which is death for the sake of resurrection. Through a life of prayer and sacrifice, and a total dedication to God in solitude, monastic vocations fulfill God's plan for them, and thus contribute to His redemptive work in the world. Our Religious Family had organised a four-days Popular Mission at Yuen Long Catholic Secondary School. A school in Hong Kong under the administration of the Diocese of Hong Kong. The theme for the Mission was "Jesus Christ".
IVE Youth day 2018 had finished successfully on the 21st of February. This Youth day was held in Holy Family Academic in Padre Garcia, Bantangas, more than 500 youths were attracted to join this event. This year, some youths from Malaysia came to the Philippine just for joining this event.
Two sisters were invited to participate and be one of the speakers in the 6th Worldwide Overseas Chinese Pastoral and Evangelization Convention (WOCPEC) which was held in Auckland from 19 to 23 October, 2017. Other guest speakers included: Most Rev. Archbishop Savio Hon Tai-Fai, Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and Apostolic Administrator of the Archidiocese of Agana, Guam, Most Rev.
Our first two Taiwanese sisters, Sr. Baoxi and Sr. Daosheng, professed their perpetual vows on October 15, 2017. The Holy Mass was presided over by His Excellency Martin Yao-Wen SU, Bishop of Taichung; and was concelebrated by 4 priests, among them 2 are our IVE missionary priests in Taiwan (Fr. Lucio Flores and Fr. Michael Zhang) and 2 diocesan priests.
On September 14, 2017 during the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, 8 novices from our Province received the habit which marks a new stage of their religious life. Previously on September 12, the feast day of the Holy Name of Mary, they had received new names of titles of Mary in their own languages (Pidgin-Papua New Guinea, Tagalog-Philippines, Malay-Malaysia, and Chinese).
